Eye Care Payment Options

Thank you for taking the time to review your payment options in advance of receiving care. We believe you'll find the process much simpler as a result. We are looking forward to helping you with all your vision needs.

We feel that finances shouldn't stand in the way of clearer vision, the following payment options can assist you in making your next visit with us as affordable as possible.

Payment in Full:

This payment can be made using cash, check, or credit card. We accept most major credit cards: VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS.

CareCredit:

CareCredit is a company that provides patients with credit for their medical/vision/dental procedures, offering short-term, 0% interest payment plans and low-interest, extended payment plans. CareCredit has no up-front costs, no fees and no pre-payment penalties. Financing may be extended for as long as 60 months with payments as low as $49 per month.

Medical/Vision Insurance:

Some medical insurances and vision plans will cover some or all aspects of your visit with us.

Flex Spending Plans:

Flexible spending plans can be used to cover the costs of the eye exam and materials. Talk to your employer about setting aside money for you to put toward the costs of your health care needs on an annual basis for use throughout the year.

Tax Deductions:

The IRS has declared eye exams to be a valid medical expense, thus making it tax deductible.


Insurance Questions

Many times our patients come to our office with both medical health insurance policy and managed care vision plan. How do we know which plan to use? If you come in for an eye exam and there is no specific complaint or specific reason for the visit besides wanting to check your eye glasses prescription and we find no eye health conditions, then that visit is considered to be a wellness visit and will be filed under your managed-care vision plan.

However, if you have systemic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, etc….or you are taking medications that can cause eye health problems,or you have cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and other eye conditions that require monitoring and or treatment, then the visit is no longer a wellness visit and will be filed under your medical health insurance policy.

The above statements are simply examples that we illustrated and should not be taken as all inclusive. Please understand that we can’t determine the nature of the visit and which plan to file until a thorough eye exam is completed.

Refraction, the procedure that determines your eye glasses prescription, usually is a non-covered service under most medical health insurance policy and will be your responsibility. However, if your medical health insurance policy has routine eye exam benefit, then refraction should be covered. Refraction is covered under managed care vision plans.

These rules are defined by your insurance carriers and we are simply following the rules. Should you have any specific questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us or your insurance carrier.
